"Realistic vs Cartoony"

Heh, this is funny. He quotes massive parts of this entire conversation, but doesn't link to the thread where it happened.

I was "Jeremy". Like the author of this post, I was also frankly amazed to see somebody saying "I didn't think I need to do life drawing because I work cartoony"... but like he says, it was an incredibly polite discussion and I think it's just a case of a naive young artist who's learning new things for the first time.

Hi jeff!

Did not mean to embarrass or offend you guys in any way, shape or form, that is why I didn't post the link to the actual discussion. Not because I didn't want to credit your site for the dialog.

I have seen similar aguments online in many forums in the past 8 years most of them weren't too cordial or helpful. As I said in my blog this has been the most civilized and polite exchange I've encountered so far and I thought it was worth bringing it forward, I really think it's relevant information. No intention on my part to appropriate your content, whatsoever.

Thanks, Jeff!

Alberto,

It's no problem! I just thought it was kinda funny, reading through the original post on your blog and thinking "hmmm this sounds familiar! This Jeremy guy is giving excellent advice!" :)

I thought it was nice, too--fesworks, the original poster in that thread, is a relatively new artist but has a great attitude about learning. You're absolutely right that most of those kinds of discussions get defensive and uncivil pretty quick! This was a welcome exception.
